County Softball Championship Today

DORA — The top two seeds did their job at the Walker County Softball Tournament on Friday.

Both top-seeded Cordova and second-seeded Carbon Hill earned wins, setting up a battle at 10 a.m. today with the winner advancing to the championship game — set for 2:30 p.m.

The championship game will be broadcast on WJLX Oldies 101.5 FM.

Carbon Hill defeated Oakman 5-2 while Cordova knocked off Curry 7-0. In Friday’s other games, Curry defeated Dora 13-3 in six innings in the opener and Oakman eliminated Dora 11-5 in the nightcap.

Today’s games start at 10 a.m. with the winner’s bracket final. An elimination game between Curry and Oakman is set for 11:30 a.m. The loser of the Cordova-Carbon Hill game plays the winner of the Curry-Oakman game at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game.
